Getting Here

Flights to the Cook Islands are available from many international destinations. They all fly into the main island – Rarotonga. From there you can explore the outer islands via inter-island flights and boats.

Flights to Rarotonga

There are currently four airlines flying to the Cook Islands – Air New Zealand, Jetstar, Virgin Australia and Air Tahiti. There are direct flights to Rarotonga from Auckland, Sydney, Los Angeles and Tahiti.

Flights from Auckland

Air New Zealand has daily flights from Auckland, Jetstar has flights from Auckland twice a week. Virgin Australia also flies from Auckland with additional flights twice a week with connections to Sydney.  During the peak season (and some other times of the year) Air NZ and Virgin Australia also fly directly between Christchurch and Rarotonga.

Air New Zealand connects to Sydney from Auckland with direct flights to Rarotonga.
Flight Time: 6 hours and 12 minutes

Flights from Los Angeles

Air New Zealand operates non-stop flights from Los Angeles to Rarotonga.
Flight Time: 9 hours and 24 minutes

Flights from Tahiti

Air Tahiti has a regular weekly service from Papeete to Rarotonga.
Flight Time: 2 hours and 45 minutes

Domestic Flights 

To travel to the other islands of the Cooks, travelers fly to Rarotonga and connect with flights on our domestic airline, Air Rarotonga.

The airlines change their schedules to reflect demand during different times of the year – check their websites for more details. Fare prices can also vary depending on the time of year.
